President’s Message
January 2011
Fellow Administrators,
It is a privilege and honor to serve as your 2011 President of the Louisiana Association of School Executives (LASE). Previously I held the position of Representative from District 3 on our Executive Board and at present I am a Louisiana’s delegate on our national affiliate, American Association of School Administrators (AASA) Governing Board. During my 37-year educational career I have worked as a teacher, coach, principal, assistant superintendent and currently as superintendent. I look forward to working with my fellow administrators throughout the state as we continue to provide an excellent education for Louisiana’s youth.
By joining LASE and its national affiliate, AASA, there is unlimited opportunities for you to network with Louisiana educators/administrators as well as other educators throughout the country. As a LASE member, you are not only provided with chances for networking and professional development, but also;- $1,000,000 liability insurance per year
- 30 hours of free legal service per year
- Legislative updates related to education
- Return of dues program
If you are not currently a LASE member, I strongly urge you to consider membership to this distinguished organization. If you are a member, I thank you and I will serve you to the best of my ability. If you have colleagues who may not be members, please encourage them to join, and I look forward to seeing all of you at our annual LASE Conference in November 2011.
Education is undergoing tremendous changes. We must all be prepared and represented as policies and laws begin to reshape the face of education. LASE will serve as a venue and a voice for all educators. We must be a viable organization which speaks for all administrators, not politicians!
If you have any questions or need additional information about our organization, please contact your LASE District Representative or any Executive Board member. Again, thank you for your trust in me and I am truly grateful for this opportunity to serve you.
Sincerely,
Richard D. Lavergne, Superintendent
St. Martin Parish Schools
